The Mamalitia is BACK!

For those of you who know me, or who have been following my blog for a while, the Mamalitia is back!

In case this concept is new to you, I will do a brief run-down...

Two years ago, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer.

One of my friends then told me that she would walk in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day with me. This is a three day, sixty mile walk to cure breast cancer. Shortly after, I started training and raising funds. The minimum to do this walk is $2,200 per participant, so we knew that we had a lot of money to raise!

Shortly thereafter, a few more of my friends surprised me with a fundraising party, and then another. We called the group of us that worked together "The Mamalitia" (after Mamalicious, my mom - or the mom of Mandelicious - haha).

Together, two years ago, the Mamalitia raised over ten thousand dollars. I have our exact totals written down at home, and will write a new blog soon that shows that, as well as pictures from the Mamalitia fundraisers, as well as pictures from the 3-day. If you look back in the archives of this blog, the stories should be there, but the picture links are now broken, so I have to re-do it!

Here is a link to the blog I wrote about the 3-day, without the pictures... It's a long story, but I am pretty sure I am not going to get those pictures anytime soon. =(

Here's the blog about the fundraiser we did at Decibel for the Mamalitia... And another with details about it....

Now, like I said, we're back!

Any help I can get, I will take.

You can help by joining the team and doing the walk with me. So far, a few people (men and women) have said they would do the walk with me, but no one has signed up yet! Let me know if you're interested!

If sixty miles in three days seems like a little bit much for you, you can also be a part of the crew. You pay $90, and you help with the logistical aspects of the walk. The $90 gets you a tshirt and meals, snacks, and a tent to sleep in during the three days of the walk!

You could also come and cheer me (hopefully us, once my team grows!) on during the walk! Cari and I loved when our friends and family members were on the route, ready to give us hugs, encouragement, popsicles, or a new toothbrush when my dumb self dropped it onto the floor of the portapotty!

Or, if you can, you could also donate. Obviously, I am looking to beat how much money we raised last year, and I definitely can't do it alone!

If you can donate, go to this link: http://www.the3day.org/goto/Mandie and give what you can.

Part of the goal of Susan G. Komen is to raise awareness, so if you can share this blog, or my link to donate, that would be outstanding!

So many people are affected by this horrible disease, and it's about time we stopped it. Do it for the tatas!

XOXO,

Mandie

P.S. I promise a more detailed blog on this will be coming soon! I am just waiting on the pictures and some free time. I also have another blog started, and two new facebook albums to blog, too! Woohoo!
